Specific Learning Disorder Specific Learning Disorders (SLDs) are defined as “heterogeneous group of conditions wherein there is a deficit in processing language, spoken or written, that may manifest itself as a difficulty to comprehend, speak, read, write, spell, or to do mathematical calculations. When can we say the child is having a specific learning disorder? Children who have average to above average intellectual abilities. They are facing difficulties in learning academic skills such as reading, mathematics and writing despite exposure to a “normal” teaching environment.
